This annual raucous festival of colorful costumes, dance parade and celebration begins at 2 a.m. annually, just after the ringing of the church bells following the New Year’s Eve midnight services at many Bahamas churches. Junkanoo celebrations occur at Eleuthera Island, Harbour Island, Bimini Island and The Abacos. The largest Junkanoo takes place on nearby Paradise Island, just a ferry ride away from any of the Out Islands of the Bahamas.

New U.S. Passport Regulations
As of January 23, 2007 all U.S. citizens are required to carry valid U.S. passports when traveling to and from The Bahamas.
