Stella Maris Resort Club

This plantation-style resort occupies a garden estate on Long Island north end, just a stone's throw from the Atlantic shore.

Located on Long Island in the southern Bahamas, Stella Maris Resort Club offers a tropical vacation to unwind, relax and explore on land and in water. Rum Cay and Conception Island – both part of Long Island – offer some of the most beautiful and pristine Scuba Diving in the world. Of course, you’ll want to visit the blue hole – at 663 feet, it’s the world’s deepest known blue hole and second largest underwater chamber. When you’re not exploring, you’ll have your own secluded hideaway at the resort, where villas are scattered throughout a palm grove and nestled into a panorama of tropical foliage and a dramatic shoreline. There’s a view of the Atlantic from every room.

When you vacation in a secluded island, you get a chance to experience unspoiled territory, where surprises – coral gardens – await you at nearly every turn. Stella Maris Resort encourages guests to explore on land and at sea. You’ll get plenty of choices to experience Long Island Bahamas exactly as you choose. Don’t want to leave the resort? Swim in one of the three pools. Want to be lazy? Rest in a hammock, and let the gentle ocean breeze and Caribbean sun lull you to sleep. Grab a beach chair under a cabana at Stella Maris Beach Cove. Be adventurous; take out a “sunfish” sailboat at Deal’s Beach, where you can snorkel (learn from on-site experts), or swim at the northwest coast, Cape Santa Maria Beach Reserve.

It seems only natural to want to explore the beaches, the fishing flats and reef, after all, Christopher Columbus once explored these islands, declaring Long Island Bahamas to be the most beautiful island in the world. Stella Maris was the first to explore Rum Cay and Conception Island, unquestionably offering the most beautiful and pristine diving experience in the world. And then there is Dean’s Blue Hole where William Trubridge trains and teaches diving. The New Zealand free diver set a 2007 World Record right here, diving 81 meters (265 feet). While impressive, it’s not even half way to the bottom of this amazing blue hole.

At night, have a beach cook out or a party in a cave and immerse yourself in the Bahamian culture.

Stella Maris Resort and other hotels and attractions throughout the 80-mile stretch of Long Island provide delightful scenery, quaint village life and interesting reminders of its historic past. Many say this is the friendliest and most attractive of all the Out Islands of the Bahamas. Of course, we’ll let you be the judge of that.
