Bahamas Out Island News
There’s always something happening in The Bahamas Out Islands.
The Cape Eleuthera Institute hosted a Coastal Conservation Coalition Planning Workshop in August with bonefish guides from the islands of Abaco, Grand Bahama, New Providence, Eleuthera and Andros and scientists from the Fisheries Conservation Foundation and Bonefish and Tarpon Trust.
The coalition discussed issues affecting the flats-fishing industry. They also initiated a proposal to start a Bahamian Flyfishing Federation (BFF) that will support the flyfishing industry by forming a national partnership with all industry stakeholders to promote the conservation of bonefish, tarpon, and permit populations as well as the habitats on which they depend. The overall goal of the BFF is to create a Bahamas that is the known as the best flyfishing destination in the world.
