Awaken Your Taste Buds in Andros

Eating in Andros is Down-Home

Food is undeniably a part of the culture wherever you visit, and one of the ways to experience the culture and people of Andros is through the down-home style meals.

Brigadier's Restaurant

Whether you dine indoors or on the covered pier which extends into the water, try the lobster fritters, or a loaded hamburger at Brigadier’s Restaurant located in Davis Creek. Although international cuisine like chicken fettuccine is available, you'll want to feast on conch chowder or grilled crawfish. Brigadier’s specializes in fresh seafood.

Be sure to catch the sunset while dining at the restaurant.

Hank's Place

Have you ever tried a lobster salad? If you are a seafood lover, try this salad at Hank’s! The seafood and bistro fare are served in a casual setting on a deck, overlooking the waterfront. From chicken and pork to fish and lobster, Hank’s has a range of food to cater to your taste.

Situated on the northern side of Fresh Creek, Andros, visit mid-week and the restaurant is quiet. If you stop by on a weekend, you will find a lively crowd, inclusive of locals, visitors and workers from the nearby United States Naval Base.

And for those who like a spiked drink, Hank's signature cocktail, the ‘Hanky Panky,’ is a frozen rum and fruit juice mixture.

Shine's Conch Shack

You watch as the food is cooked to order at this wooden shack. In fact, there are times when you may see fishermen offloading the catch from boats and taking them into the shack. Watch them pull out the conch and cook it right before your eyes.

Located on the northern side of Mangrove Cay, Andros, this shack sits seaside. Get ready to wet your taste buds alongside locals, with Bahamian delights such as conch salad and crack conch, in addition to chicken wings, lobster ceviche and other options.

Meet the owner, Shine, who is a bonefishing guide. He is ready to tell his stories and listen to yours. The walls are adorned with the signature of visitors worldwide, trophy fish and sharks. In addition, jewelry and crafts made from conch shells by Shine and his wife are available for sale.

Visit Shine’s Conch Shack for an authentic Andros experience.

 Sammy's Bar and Grill

At this restaurant, the owner Sammy warmly greets everyone. He even serves drinks at times. This small, beachside bar and grill is located on the Queen’s Highway in North Andros, just south of Small Hope Bay Lodge.

Chicken is available, but for more island fare, you may want to taste the lobster bites, conch burger or conch salad. In fact, we recommend the ‘Sammy’s Sample,’ a mixture of seafood.

Have a bite as you sway to the music of the sea and local tunes.

Ezrena's Restaurant

Check out Ezrena’s Restaurant in Drigg’s Hill, South Andros and you will immediately be drawn to curtains from locally-made batik fabric, with tables and chairs in the main dining room sitting on a white-sand floor. The walls are littered with dollar bills signed by former customers.

Once seated, you have many Bahamian breakfast and lunch options to choose from. Be sure to try their boil fish and johnny cake! Eat authentic Bahamian food at Ezrena’s.

Dinner is by reservation only.
